8. Snake Plant

The snake plant is a succulent that can grow pretty much anywhere! Leathery, sword-shaped leaves with yellow or white tips shoot upward in a snake-like fashion, giving the plant its name.

This low-maintenance plant is perfect for beginners, but even seasoned plant growers love it because of its dramatic appearance. Although the snake plant can grow in low light areas, it blossoms tall stalks with sweet-smelling green flowers when exposed to bright light. 9. Cast-Iron Plant

Coming from the Lilly family, the aptly name cast-iron plant was given its name because it is nearly indestructible. It’s also called Aspidistra genus or ballroom plant and features long dark green leaves. These are most commonly used in landscaping to fill in areas beneath trees and other plants where not much sunlight reaches.

This is the perfect indoor plant because not only does it grow even in dark areas, it actually cannot stand direct sunlight! You do need to water it every other day or so but these plants are extremely resilient and can grow in a variety of different temperatures. Schlumbergera, or the Christmas cactus, gets its name from the fact that this plant blooms just in time for the season of merriment. Satiny flowers that range in color from lilac and white to deep rose, salmon, and red orange make this elegant variety of cactus a treat to the eye.

As with most types of cactus, this variety is also pretty easy to take care of. You will need to groom the plant a little by cutting off some sections once it has stopped blooming just so it can create more blossoms but that’s just a once-in-a-while job. It fares well in low light but indirect sunlight is ideal for maximum flowering, and you will need to keep it adequately watered.
