9 Common Kitchen Disasters & How To Fix Them
7. Burnt Meat
If you’ve burned the outside of your meat, while the inside is still undercooked, you might be facing a real dilemma. One way to fix this is by removing it from the pan immediately, wrapping it in foil and popping it in the oven. This way, your meat will continue to cook without any extra browning. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer to make sure it’s cooked to perfection. If you’ve cooked it with the skin (applies to poultry), and it’s too far gone, try removing it.
8. Overcooked Carbs
If you’ve let your pasta go for a little too long and it’s gotten all clumpy, one of the ways to salvage it is by draining it and popping it into a hot pan with some oil. Break it up gently and let the oil do its job. Although it won’t be perfect, it’ll save you from having to throw it away. You could also try the same thing with rice.
9. Overripe Fruits & Veges
When fruits and veges have gone past their prime, they are still good enough to eat, they just won’t taste as good. A good way to use them up is to either cook, blend, or bake them up!
For things like apples and pears, you could slice them really thin, sprinkle them with some sugar and cinnamon (or anything you like) and bake them into chips. Bananas and berries can be frozen and made into smoothies. With vegetables, you can make things like creamy soup or fritters. Bonus points for pickling vegetables like cucumbers and beans!
