Easy Fixes For 10 Common Problems That Cause Trouble Sleeping

4. Leg Cramps

Routine stretching can be really helpful in preventing muscle spasms, cramps, aches, etc. Stretching before going to bed is also a great idea, or you can consider taking up yoga (you’ll need to do it continuously for best results).

5. Heartburn/Aching Legs

Prop a pillow under your legs to encourage the blood to run downwards of your legs, and give your legs a soothing massage. Heartburn is most often caused by our diets, so avoid heavy meals and caffeine 6 hours before bedtime. Sleeping on your left side can also prevent nightly heartburn as the food is unlikely to return back up the esophagus, which is what causes heartburn.

6. Shoulder Aches

If you wake up with shoulder pain, you’ve most likely slept on your stomach all night. It might feel good at the time, but this is the worst sleeping position of them all! To try to get rid of shoulder pain, sleep on your back (the best sleeping position), or on your side.
