Her most popular role of the current era of Hollywood was the character of Nova Prime Irani Rael in the 2014 science fiction movie Guardians of the Galaxy. More recently, Close acted in a British comedy called Father Figures, and took to the stage as Norma Desmond in the play Sunset Boulevard, both in 2017.
